Selena Gomez gets candid about her changing body throughout the years.
The most followed woman on Instagram took to the platform’s Stories to show her body in two snaps years apart.
She wrote alongside a photo of her in a zebra bikini from 2013, when she was 21, “Today I realized I will never look like this again…”
The Love You Like a Love Song hitmaker also shared a photo from her vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, last year. It showed the former Disney alum wearing a high-waisted bikini bottom with a white bikini top, which she captioned,
“I’m not perfect, but I am proud to be who I am… Sometimes I forget it’s ok to be me,”
In October, Gomez revealed how receiving tons of hateful, body-shaming comments after undergoing surgery after her lupus diagnosis.
The actress who was only 24 at the time of diagnosis, recalled that she lost her ‘‘teenager’s body” during a magazine fitting — which ultimately left her self-conscious.
In an interview with Fast Company, Gomez said,
“None of the sample sizes were fitting, and that would make me feel embarrassed,”
“Although how unrealistic is it to expect a normal woman’s body not to change?”
After the diagnosis, the Only Murders in the Building star underwent a kidney transplant surgery and chemotherapy.
A few months later, Gomez went for a getaway in Australia where pap pictures showed her surgery scar to the world.
Things were extremely tough for Selena as she had recently broken up with her on-and-off boyfriend Justin Bieber at the time.
Gomez added,
“Then there were those moments of not feeling positive about how I looked because of what I’d see on Instagram. ‘Wow, I wish my body looked like that,’”

Selena was diagnosed with bipolar disorder following Lupus
To make matters worse, Gomez went into a psychosis and checked into a treatment center, where she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018.
The Naturally singer recalled,
“I went through a really hard season,”
“It was my highs and my lows, and I didn’t know what to do, so I couldn’t control it. I would want to cancel things. It was just a tormented feeling.”
One fan commented,
”Good for her, accepting herself and celebrating who she is in the here and now. She’s also on anti-rejection drugs that affect her weight because of the kidney transplant.”
Another wrote,
”It’s called maturity. No one can retain their 21-year old body, unless you are one of the lucky few with good genes.”
