Pregnancy alert! Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka are expanding their family.

The 30-year-old Los Angeles Dodgers player revealed that he and his wife are expecting their first child together.

The announcement was made on December 28, 2024, through an Instagram post where Ohtani expressed excitement about the new addition to their family.

They referred to the baby as a “little rookie” who will join them in 2025.

The post featured a heartwarming image of a pink onesie, baby shoes, an ultrasound photo covered with a baby emoji, and their dog, Dekopin (nicknamed “Decoy”).

They further captioned the post, writing,

“Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon,”

The pregnancy announcement comes almost ten months after Shohei Ohtani disclosed his marriage to Mamiko Tanaka.

In February 2024, Shohei Ohtani confirmed his marriage to Mamiko Taaka, a former professional basketball player from Japan.

In his Instagram post, he expressed excitement about starting a new chapter in his life. He wrote,

“Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married,”

He also added a message in Japanese that reads,

“We are still young and [there are] many things we don’t know yet, but we hope you will warmly watch over us,” he continued. “We hope that the two of us (and one dog) will work together to support each other and move forward alongside with our fans.”

Shortly after the announcement, Ohtani and Tanaka were seen boarding a plane to Seoul, South Korea, where the Dodgers were scheduled to play.

The team shared a photo on social media that included them along with teammate Mookie Betts and his wife. The caption referred to Tanaka as Ohtani’s wife.

Tanaka has been spotted at several Dodgers games, celebrating with Ohtani and their dog after the team won the NL West.

They have also made public appearances together, including at the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation Blue Diamond Gala in May 2024, where they posed for a photo with Ed Sheeran.
