Sinéad O’Connor died a natural death.
A rep for Southwark Coroner’s Court in London announced on Tuesday,
“This is to confirm that Ms. O’Connor died of natural causes,”
“The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.”
The Nothing Compares 2 U songstress passed away in July 2023 just days after canceling all her music shows to focus on her health. She was 56.
It was after her son, Shane died by suicide.
Shortly after the singer’s shocking death, police announced that she was found unresponsive at a London apartment.
The political activist was pronounced dead at the scene. However, her death was not considered suspicious since there was no foul play detected, said the Metropolitan Police at the time.
Her grieving family shared a statement after her death, saying,
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad.”
“Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”
O’Connor made controversial political actions and was a famous singer. Just a week before her death, she said that she was feeling lost after her young son’s suicide.
Her emotional tweet read,
“Been living as undead night creature since,”
“He was the love of my life, the lamp of my soul. We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally.”
The singer concluded,
“I am lost in the bardo without him.”

When was the last time the world saw O’Connor?
The last time O’Connor made her public appearance was in March 2023 at the RTÉ Choice Music Prize. She looked happy and in great health as she accepted the award for Best Irish Classic Album.
She received the trophy in honor of 1990’s I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got.
Her funeral took place in August in her homeland Ireland. Thousands of fans gathered outside her home to bid her final goodbye.
Many of them held up signs and slogans including ”Black Lives Matter” and “Gay Pride” in honor of the provocative performer and political activist.
One grieving fan said at the time,
“I think she had the courage to say a lot of things that we all felt,”
“She represented our transition from a very dark past into a hopeful future, and I’m just here to say thanks for being with me along that journey, and for maybe putting words and expression on what I felt but didn’t quite know how to say.”
Her family held a private funeral service after the procession.
She is survived by her other three children: son Jake, 36, daughter Roisin, 27, and son Yeshua, 17.
