Prior to this, Taylor never talked about the politics of her country or that of another country. When as a teen she entered the music industry, she preferred to stay silent on the political scenarios. She had said at that young age that she was very young and uneducated and in no capacity to influence anyone’s political decisions. In 2016, she was again quiet though many celebrities endorsed Hillary Clinton.

She could no more stay silent in the presence of so much of political injustice around. Hence she decided to speak up.

More of her political stances after 2018

Taylor decided to now speak up for what is right. Therefore, she endorsed two Democratic Congress candidates during the midterm polls in 2018. In the documentary, Taylor states:

“I think it is so frilly and spineless of me to stand on stage and go, ‘Happy Pride Month, you guys,’ and then not say this, when someone’s literally coming for their [the queer community’s] neck,”
