South Korean YouTuber Tzuyang reveals about her past dating violence and donations to orphanage!

Popular South Korean YouTuber Tzuyang, 27 who is famous for her mukbang videos on her YouTube channel has opened up about her past personal life. She revealed that she was physically assaulted on one of her former boyfriends.

The famous South Korean YouTuber Tzuyang is known for her mukbang videos in which she is seen eating excessive amounts of food within a short period of time. Moreover, she also puts up videos of herself eating unusual food items. She has around 10 million followers on her YouTube channel.

On 11 July 2024, Tzuyang uploaded a video in which she had revealed that she was victimized by one of her past boyfriends. Tzuyang said that she was a victim of dating violence for a long period of time. Her former boyfriend had physically assaulted her and also tried to extort money from her on several occasions. In total, he had managed to extract illegally 4 billion won from her. According to Tzuyang:

“(He) hit my body because it would be too obvious in the face,”

Tzuyang’s lawyers also appeared in her video and stated that a criminal case was filed against this former boyfriend. But, her boyfriend committed suicide and hence the file was closed. This livestream garnered more than 2 million views.

An online debate starts after Tzuyang’s video

After Tzuyang’s video was posted online, a general debate started on social media regarding the rising number of gender-based violence in South Korea. Data reveals that in 2023, there were 14000 people who were charged with dating violence in South Korea. In 2020, the figure was 8951, thereby revealing that cases of dating violence has risen more than 50% over the last three years. This may be due to increased complaint rates. Out of these cases of 2020, only a small number of culprits were actually arrested and put behind bars.

Human rights activists are demanding strict punishment against the criminals so that the victims are protected.

Who is Tzugang?

Tzugang’s real name is Park Jung-won. She was born on 14 April 1997 in South Korea. Her mukbang videos are mainly about beef, pork, and noodles eating. Her channel has more than 2.6 billion views.

It was in November 2018 that Tzugang began her YouTube channel. There are not much details available about her early life, parents, siblings, and educational background. But, she does have a pet Siamese cat. And in one of her videos. South Korean TV actor, Lee Jang-Woo had featured.

Recently, Tzuyang also disclosed that since the last five years, she is making frequent donations to an orphanage. Her total contributions to this shelter home is around 200 million KRW. The orphanage name is Sangnok Orphanage in Gwanak-gu, Seoul. It has revealed that since May 2019, Tzuyang has been donating 3.15 million KRW every month to this organization. She also visits the orphanage regularly and plays with the children. And on 20 July 2019, she also took all the children to a nearby swimming pool for fun.

Tzuyang told the orphanage head, Bu Cheong Ha:

Even if I can’t send as much money as before, I will continue to donate as much as I can.”

She also donates to flower farms, veterans, hospitals, and fire stations.
