Mandy Harvey, 29, received a standing ovation from an astounded Simon Cowell who pressed his Golden Buzzer after listening to her beautiful, self-penned song Try and told her it was the most incredible thing he’d ever seen.

“I never think I’m going to be surprised or amazed by people and then you turn up,” said Simon.

“Just the fact you are you, but it was your voice, your tone, that song was beautiful.”

When did she lose her hearing power and how is she able to sing??

Before Harvey performed, she explained that when she was 18 years old she lost her hearing due to a connective tissue disorder.

“Everything that I ever wanted was going away,”

she recalled in a video before her audition. Harvey then told Cowell that she was able to sing through muscle memorization and visualization, as well as feeling the vibrations.

She then said she was going to sing a song she wrote called “Try.” Before performing, Harvey explained that the song was about not giving up.

“I want to do more with my life than give up,

she further noted of the song, which had the catchy refrain of “I will try.” Suffice to say, she was fantastic.

What was their reaction to Cowell after Mandy’s performance???

After she finished, Cowell told Harvey she didn’t need a translator for what he wanted to say, and instead, he hit the Golden Buzzer, as the entire crowd gave her a standing ovation.

That was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen and heard,”

Cowell then told an emotional Harvey. He continued,

“I never thought that I will be surprised or amazed by people,”

and yet she did both, he admitted.

The song was beautiful,

added Cowell.

Hope must never be lost in Mandy’s words

Hope must never be lost. In it we find strength. And it is our duty to show and give it to others. Hope “keeps life moving” because it pulls us out of any dark situation. Continue to hope and make your dreams a reality.

Mandy Harvey, Deaf Singer, Finds an Audience. And Leaves It Weeping.

After I lost my hearing, I gave up, But I want to do more with my life than just give up.

She explained that after a period of not performing, she learned how to sing again by using tools such as “visual tuners”, and added that she performs without wearing shoes so she can feel a song’s beat through floor vibrations. She then broke into a song that she wrote, “Try.” The judges and some audience members appeared visibly shocked by her lucid notes; some could be seen wiping away tears. At the end of the clip, Mr. Cowell hit a golden buzzer, sending Ms. Harvey to the show’s next round. The music swelled as Mr. Cowell, known for his grumpy demeanor, joined Ms. Harvey on stage to tell her that her performance “was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen and heard.”  Mandy further added,

“I sing to encourage other people; that’s what makes me happy,” she told the BBC in its feature on her. “My passion, the whole reason why I sing, is so that I can say, ‘Hey, this is what I’ve done; I really hope that I can encourage you to do the same.’”

A sweet and melodious acoustic tune, Harvey hit every note — and drew tears and a standing ovation from the audience. Finally, Cowell hit the Golden Buzzer, sending her through to the live show.

I’ve done this a long time,” the former American Idol judge said as he went up to her after to congratulate her. “That was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen and heard.” Watch her wow the crowd in her moving song.
