Tanzania: Autocratic president, John Magufuli doing a ghastly cover-up of coronavirus cases and deaths!
- How can a country head do that? But yes, the autocratic president of Tanzania, John Magufuli is doing it.
- And he is making a cover-up of the actual cases of coronavirus-affected cases and deaths in his country.
- But night burials of dead bodies are ongoing and he claims that the pandemic in his country is over and this is due to the power of prayer.
Tanzania and the coronavirus pandemic cover-up
It is the most ghastly thing to do in this universe- namely ignoring the death threat of COVID-19 and covering up the deaths occurring due to it in one’s country. But the Tanzanian authoritarian President, John Magufuli is doing just that.
In April 2020, the Tanzanian government stopped putting forward the data on the number of cases of COVID-19 in its country and the deaths due to it. On 29 April, it reported 509 cases and 21 deaths due to the virus.
Later, in June, John said that there were no new cases of coronavirus in his country. He said the country is free from coronavirus due to the power of prayer.
And now 100 days are over and he continues to declare that there are no new cases and the virus is finished in Tanzania. He has started asking tourists to visit Tanzania again! But he has not tested enough!
John and his coronavirus claims
WHO and other countries and experts feel that it is a big cover-up. John has not imposed any lockdown on its citizens.
He did not ask them to do social distancing or wear masks in public places. Only mass gatherings were banned. He kept harping on miracle cures and divine intervention.
In June, John said:
“When I came to power they said we have cases of the Zika virus and I fired the person who announced that … Since I fired him five years ago, Tanzania has not had cases of Zika,”
And now he says:
“Now we have corona. They said bodies will be lying on streets in Africa. But they did not know God loves Tanzania. We prayed for three days and the coronavirus is finished.”
The truth behind Tanzania and the coronavirus
Last week, the African continent’s coronavirus figures crossed 1 million. In Kenya, 29k cases are affected and 460 deaths took place.
Kenya did not allow trucks from Tanzania to enter its territories after 51 truck drivers from there tested positive for the virus.
In neighboring Mozambique, 19 deaths and 2630 cases of COVID-19 are reported. And South Africa has the fifth-highest cases in the world.
The truth is that in Tanzania videos showing night-time burials of dead bodies have gone viral. The opposition leader Zitto Kabwe said:
“Right now, we are witnessing a lot of mourning, burials and dead bodies everywhere,”
“Without transparency, the citizens will be more scared, which may cause even more deaths.”
The government has marginalized testing labs and they jail anyone who raises doubts about the figures or response of the government.
Additionally, the phones of opposition politicians and rights activists are tapped. Many health officials have been fired for their questions about the method of dealing with the pandemic.
President John said that his son has a mixture of ginger and lemonade and it cured his COVID-19.
How terrible it is when a country head places the economy over the lives of its citizens!!!
