The “Vampire Diaries” actor surprised everyone on Thursday when he shared the news online that he and Reed are already expecting their first child together. That the two of them expecting a baby was shared on Instagram by both the parents.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, Somerhalder expressed and poured his heart out saying how much it means to him to finally get the chance to become a father.

“To our friends, family, and rest of the world. In my 38 years on this earth I’ve never experienced anything more powerful and beautiful than this,”

Somerhalder said that he definitely is very excited for the “next new chapter” in his life.

“This has been the most special time of our lives and we wanted to keep it between the three of us for as long as possible so we could enjoy this time with each other and our little one who is growing so fast…because that’s what they do, they grow so fast.Thank you for your kind energy”

In the picture, Reed is in a powder blue dress and her belly is on full display and Ian is kissing it.

The “Sleepy Hollow” alum also posted a meaningful post on her Instagram account, but it is more directed toward her unborn child with Somerhalder.

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter addressed the baby inside her womb, saying,

“Hi Little One. I know you, but only because I feel you. How is it possible to love someone so much already? All I know for sure is it’s the strongest feeling I’ve ever felt … We can’t wait to meet you… Love, Your parents”

Update: Ian and Nikki became parents on 25th July 2017. They gave birth to a baby girl and named their daughter Bodhi Soleil Reed Somerhalder.

The pregnancy announcement has come as a total surprise for their audience since prior to revealing it, the couple was talking about the launch of Reed’s company. Nikki Reed had shared a behind-the-scenes snap of her photoshoot for the clothing line. Ian too had put up the same picture but captioned it differently.

Ian Somerhalder also put up a post to praise his wife.

It was two years back when Somerhalder and Reed exchanged their wedding vows on April 26, 2015. Reed was previously married and her husband was Paul McDonald, while Somerhalder was in a relationship with his “Vampire Diaries” leading lady Nina Dobrev.

Nikki delivered a baby girl on 25 July 2017 and her name is Bodhi Soleil she did not share the child’s picture on her social media until February 2018.
