Her life in reality
Tiffany is a really good comedian. But where does all this comedy come from? Tiffany learned early in life that she will have to bring comedy into her life if she has to survive all the odds in her life.
Tiffany is the eldest of five siblings. When she was nine, her mother met with a car accident in which her head crashed into the windshield of the car. It left her with some brain damage and she was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Her mother used to be in and out of the hospital. Tiffany recalled what her mom’s treating doctor had once told her:
“I remember the day my mom came out the hospital. The doctor pulled me to the side and said, ‘Look, she’s never gonna be the person that she was—it’s time for you to grow up now.’ ”
So Tiffany took up the role of a mother for her mother and siblings at the tender age of 10. But two years later, the family was split and to be sheltered at different foster homes. At the age of 15 years, Tiffany and her siblings were placed under the care of their grandmother.
Her social worker’s golden advice
Tiffany recollects how her behavior was a matter of great concern for everyone. Her social worker was fed up with her and gave her an ultimatum. She provided Tiffany with two options: one was to go to the psychiatry ward or to get enrolled at the Laugh Factory Comedy Camp. Tiffany chose the latter and she has not regretted it. She did find solace after taking comedy as a career.
Tiffany met many celebrities there. She disclosed her feelings at that time. She said:
“Going to that comedy camp and having all those men tell me, ‘You’re beautiful. You’re smart. You’re talented.’ Like, for somebody to tell me that, even if they didn’t believe it or mean it, it was enough. It was enough to light a fire.”
Tiffany feels that the ‘fruits of her labor are now starting to show’. Tiffany has graded her role in Girls Trip as her favorite. She added:
“This is, I have to say, one of the happiest moments of my life,”
Tiffany would like to celebrate her success post-Girls Trip with her other friends. She would like to go roller-skating followed by drinking and more roller-skating the next day. She says that though old for these ways of celebration, she would love to do it and she accepted that she is still a kid at heart.
