Transgender Lia Thomas Breaks Silence On Her Sexuality; “Trans people don’t transition for athletics”

Transgender Lia Thomas is the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship earlier this year.
She set a record for 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:33:24. Earlier, she made national headlines back in December after becoming the nation’s fastest times in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle at the Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
Despite her success, Thomas has always been the subject of fierce debt because of her status as a transgender athlete.

In a recent interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Thomas finally broke her silence on criticism against trans women competing in sports.
Interviewer Juju Chang asked about his competitive advantage as her performance was criticized by some of her teammates, fans, as well as conservative commentators.
She replied,
“Trans people don’t transition for athletics. We transition to be happy and authentic and our true selves. Transitioning to get an advantage is not something that ever factors into our decisions,”
Well, she has been shrugging it off for a long time. Thomas said in an undeniably male pitch,
“There’s a lot of factors that go into a race and how well you do, and the biggest change for me. is that I’m happy. I also don’t need anybody’s permission to be myself and to do the sport that I love.”
