Tribute to ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ star Andre Braugher, death at 61

Andre Braugher is no longer alive among us! The actor, who was best known for his role as ‘Captain Raymond Holt’ in the hit comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, died at 61.
His death was confirmed by his publicist Jennifer Allen that Andre died of a brief illness on Monday night, December 11.
Terry Crews, Braugher’s co-star from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, also paid an emotional tribute to the beloved actor on his remembrance. He wrote on Instagram,
“Can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I’m honored to have known you, laughed with you, worked with you and shared 8 glorious years watching your irreplaceable talent. This hurts. You left us too soon. You taught me so much.”
He added,
“I will be forever grateful for the experience of knowing you. Thank you for your wisdom, your advice, your kindness and your friendship. Deepest condolences to your wife and family in this difficult time. You showed me what a life well lived looks like. Rest In Peace, Andre. I love you, man.”

Similarly, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s other cast, including Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti, Marc Evan Jackson, Dirk Blocker, Joel McKinnon Miller, and Joe Lo Truglio, expressed their deep condolences to Andre and his family members.
Andre is survived by his wife actress Ami Brabson and three sons Isaiah Braugher, John Wesley Braugher, and Michael Braugher.

Andre Braugher was an American actor who rose to prominence for his role as Captain Raymond Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
For his role in a comedy, he garnered four Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actor. While studying at Stanford University, he developed an interest in acting and also performed in a student production of “Hamlet.”
He then pursued his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Juilliard School. In 1990, Braugher made his theater debut in the production of “Othello” at the Rutgers Arts Center.
He also received an Obie Award in 1996 for his portrayal of Henry V at Shakespeare in the Park. The actor then worked in theater for over two decades performing in various productions including “Measure for Measure,” “Twelfth Night” and “Hamlet.”
In 2011, he won a second Obie for his role in the Manhattan Theater Club production of “The Whipping Man.”

Similarly, the versatile actor made his big screen debut in the 1989 film Glory as Thomas Searles. He then appeared in numerous films including City of Angels (1998), The Mist (2007), The Gambler (2014), Emily & Tim (2015), and more.
Last time, he starred in the 2022 American drama film She Said where he portrayed the role of Dean Baquet.
Talking about Braugher’s success, he gained fame from the television series Homicide: Life on the Street as Detective Frank Pembleton, which ran from 1993 to 1999.
He also won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1998 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Through the course of his long and successful career, he received 11 Emmy nominations for his performance in several films and television shows.
He spent almost three decades in the entertainment sector.
His other credit television film includes Somebody Has to Shoot the Picture (1990), The Court-Martial of Jackie Robinson (1990), Class of ’61 (1993), Salem’s Lot (2004), Axe Cop (2015), Live in Front of a Studio Audience (2019), and more.
