Russia launched a special military operation on Thursday (24 February) in Eastern Ukraine which explosions around Kramatorsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa.

Amid the ongoing crisis, Hollywood celebrities have reacted and shown their support for the innocent civilians of Ukraine and condemned the war.

1. Angelina Jolie

The actress Angelina Jolie took to Instagram to encourage people to donate to the UN Refugee Agency to help support displaced Ukrainian refugees. She wrote in an Instagram post,

” Like many of you, I’m praying for the people in Ukraine. My focus along with my @refugees colleagues is that everything possible is done to ensure the protection and basic human rights of those displaced, and refugees in the region,”

2. Hayden Panettiere

Hauden Panettiere called Putin’s actions “an absolute disgrace”. The actress also took to Instagram to voice her support for the people of Ukraine.

She wrote,

“This horrific moment in history sends a terrifying message: the message that in this day and age, in year 2022, it’s okay to violate the rights of free people and allow autocrats like Putin to take whatever they please,”


Her former partner is also from Ukraine, Boxer Wladimir Klitschko with whom she shares a 7-year-old daughter Kaya.

Kaya currently lives in Kiev as the boxer has primary custody of her. However, she confirmed that her daughter is “safe and not in Ukraine”.

The new mother Priyanka Chopra Jonas also shared links, to ways people can help the people of Ukraine. She described events in Ukraine as “terrifying” on her respective Instagram handle.

She shared a heartbreaking video by NowThis in which Ukrainian citizens are living under subway stations to protect themselves from Russian bombardment. Along with the video she wrote,

“Innocent people living in fear for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, while trying to navigate the uncertainty of the immediate future. It’s difficult to comprehend how in the modern world this could escalate to such a catastrophic point, but this is a consequential moment that will reverberate around the world. There are innocent lives living in this war zone. They are just like you and me.”

4. Jared Leto

The Suicide Squad star Jared Leto also expressed his concern and support via tweet. Also, the Oscar-winner actor sent his love to his friends and family in Ukraine.

He tweets,

“To my friends and family in Ukraine – my heart breaks that this conflict has escalated in such a devastating way. Please take great care and be as safe as you can. Sending thoughts to you and your loved ones during this chaotic and disruptive time.”

5. Kylie Jenner

Another new mom Kylie Jenner showed her support via Instagram story and reacted to the crisis. She wrote,

“God Protect the people of Ukraine my thoughts and prayers are with you.”

6. Cardi B

Cardi B, the rapper also took to his respective Twitter handle criticizing world leaders for focusing on the wrong issues.

He tweets,

“Wish these world leaders [would] stop tripping about power and really think about who’s really getting affected (citizens) besides the whole world is in a crisis. War, sanctions, invasions should be the last thing these leaders should worry about,”

Further, many other international celebrities have spoken out about the violence in Ukraine following the Russian attack. Ukrainian celebrities have criticized the violence, including boxer Wladimir Klitschko, actress Olga Kurylenko, and Dancing With the Stars pro-Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Similarly, Russian public figures, including tennis professional Andrey Rublev and singer Regina Spektor have all condemned the violence and stand in support of peace.
