Victoria’s Secrets fashion show cancelation
Victoria’s Secret angels and fans are disappointed. The owners have canceled the fashion show which was a favorite with them for many years.
L Brands which are the owners of this lingerie brand company announced on Thursday 21 November 2019 the board decision.
They said that the company has decided to move on. They are evolving the message of the company and this is by it. The company’s CFO, Stuart Burgdoerfer stated:
“We will be communicating to customers, but nothing similar in magnitude to the fashion show,”
The earlier prediction of the demise of the fashion show
Insiders had long alerted fans and viewers that the show would not take place this year. In July 2019, the catwalk staple Shanina Shaik leaked the news of the demise of the show to the Daily Telegraph. She had said at that time:
“Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year,”
“It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an Angel.”
However the company and its reps were silent on this issue. They never made any official announcement on it until now.
The Victoria’s Secrets fashion show and its criticisms
For many years now, the show has been facing heavy criticism. People called it an outdated beauty show. The Victoria’s Secret angel Karlie Kloss had also quit the show and called the fashion event an act of feminism.
The annual fashion event of the company started in 1995. It gained fame soon after but people criticized it for its portrayal of super thin and slender models. There was a lack of diversity and inclusiveness.
But models who partook in the show had earlier felt that it was their dream come true and an ultimate achievement for them. But things changed and the fashion gained negative publicity and comments.

Victoria’s Secret fashion show and its controversial image
Of late, the show lost its sheen and got embroiled in several controversies. In 2018, the company’s former chief marketing officer, Ed Razek made some rude remarks to Vogue. He said:
“There is no room for plus-sized models on the runway of Victoria’s Secrets fashion show. We will never cast transgender models ever.”
This year in July, news came that Leslie Wexner, CEO of L Brands was a fast friend of the infamous and now-dead pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. Jeffrey had used his links with Victoria’s Secret brand to recruit models for sex trafficking by promising them jobs as models with the brand.
The company’s revenue has also been dwindling over the years. The CFO Stuart also said:
“Did we see specific material impact in terms of a short-term sales response to the airing of the fashion show? As a general matter, the answer to that question is no.”
It is not clear yet whether the show remains canceled for hood or it will return after a break in the old or new form!!!
