‘We were going to have a kid’-Tanya Callau’s plan for family expansion shattered, her defending comments….! Read on for more on Alan Thicke’s family feud
Accusations and defense
There seems to be no end to the new disclosures about Alan Thicke’s family since his untimely death on 13th December 2017 on the hockey rink while playing with his youngest son, Carter Thicke.
The two eldest sons of the Thicke clan; Brennan Thicke and Robin Thicke have knocked on the door of the court in order to obtain justice for their father’s will and wishes.
According to them, their father’s third wife and their stepmother, Tanya Callau has turned a gold digger and wants to misappropriate the property of their father, the late Alan Thicke.
Alan Thicke had made a will in 2007 wherein he had left a share of his Carpinteria, California ranch to each of his three children. He had also entitled his three sons to 75% of his personal effects and 60% of his immovable property.
As per the legal documents filed, Tanya Callau was demanding more share of their father’s property, thereby disrespecting their father’s will.
They also claim that she had threatened them with dire consequences and exposure on social media if they did not bow down to her demands.
Tanya Callau on her part had totally denied all these allegations. She said that she is not behaving like an opportunist and in fact, has a deep love for her deceased husband.
Callau is shattered by his loss and is trying her level best to cope with this tragedy in her life. She went on to state that the couple was on the verge of expanding their family when he died.
Tanya Callau divulged that she had frozen her eggs 3 years ago and was planning for a pregnancy in 2017. The couple was waiting for 19-year-old Carter Thicke to move out before they start the new chapter in their life.
She also revealed that last December they had called in an architect to their Santa Barbara ranch to draw up a blueprint for a nursery there for the expected new arrival in their life. The two brothers yet have not reacted to her disclosures and statements given to the press.
The appointed guardian for Carter Thicke
It has also come to light that Alan Thicke in his will had appointed a guardian for his youngest son Carter Thicke. As per the document, if Alan Thicke dies, Carter’s mother and Alan’s second wife, Gina Tolleson would be responsible for the care of Carter Thicke.
But in case, Gina Tolleson dies before Alan Thicke, then in that situation, Alan Thicke’s brother Todd Thicke (TV writer and producer) would act as the guardian for Carter Thicke on Alan Thicke’s death.
Todd Thicke was also appointed as the executor of the will and he would continue to be the guardian for Carter till the latter attains maturity.
Carter’s stepbrothers, Brennan Thicke or Robin Thicke, and stepmother Tanya Callau were not named as the guardian of Carter Thicke.
This Alan Thicke’s act of appointing his brother Todd as guardian for Carter subtly implies that Alan Thicke did not trust his other sons or third wife to be capable enough of being a good guardian to Carter Thicke.
This will was made in 2007 when Carter was just 10 years old. At present, Carter Thicke is more than 18 years old and hence on his own.
It is hard to know whether Tanya Callau would really not make a good guardian or whether it was just the stamp of badness associated with her being a stepmother to Carter Thicke.
Since most of the photographs of Alan Thicke and Tanya Callau have been snapped with Carter Thicke and her stepmother Tanya Callau seems in the photos to be quite happy with the presence of a stepson in her life. But images could be deceptive, people say.
How did the romantic journey start for Tanya and Alan?
The year was 1999 when Alan Thicke had just separated from his second wife, Gina Tolleson. He was 52 years old and was working as a celebrity presenter in Miami while Tanya at just 24 was doing a modeling gig.
They met and it is said that they hit it off right from the start. Alan Thicke was most probably drawn by her beauty and gorgeousness, while she might have been smitten by his charms and wit.
It is not known whether Tanya Thicke was aware of his fame and money when they met. They started dating and after 6 years got engaged in April 2005.
A few weeks later, they tied the knot. Director Gary Marshall was their groomsman, while actress Paula Patton (Robin Thicke’s ex-wife) was one of her bridesmaids. Carter Thicke who was just 7 years old at that time performed the duty of a ring bearer.
Alan Thicke had jokingly told People magazine:
“I’ll be on my third honeymoon, so I’m more of an authority than I care to be.”
Tanya had a very affectionate and comfortable relationship with Alan Thicke and both were crazy for each other. The couple caught up arguing and teasing each other.
Tanya Callau was very close to her stepsons and used to upload photos of the family together on her social media accounts. She had also helped raise Alan Thicke’s youngest son, Carter Thicke.
In the show ‘Unusually Thicke’, the family members played themselves and shown to the audience how they deal with their everyday issues.
A few days before his death, Tanya Thicke had posted an image of herself with Alan Thicke and had captioned it with the following words:
“I’ve got the cutest designated driver EVER!!!”
