The social media platform of TikTok is flooded with several tests and challenges. These things are not new on the platform. And now another test has taken the platform by storm. This test is called The Orange Peel test and it supposedly can predict the outcome of a relationship. It can reveal whether your relationship is going to last or not in the future, claim the users. The test is now trending on TikTok and has gone viral on it.
The hashtag of the test has gathered around 72 million views until now. The users state that it can tell how much your partner really cares for you.
The procedure of the test
Anna Birmingham whose TikTok account name is annabhamm says this about this test:
“When your partner does an act of service for you that is something that you are perfectly capable of doing on your own. And this is for really small stuff, like for example-peeling an orange.”
Further, Anna explains:
“Their response is indicative of much bigger things than just merely peeling an orange.”
According to her:
“Because even just a super tiny thing like that reveals so much about their attitude toward you and your relationship. So much about relationships is the small things because the small things make up the big things… it’s the acknowledgment and the feeling of being taken care of.”
Users respond to this test description
As soon as Anna talked about this test on her TikTok, the other users of this platform quickly starting sharing their side of the stories. They narrated how their partners express their love through various acts. One user wrote:
“I know I can cut my own burger, he knows I can cut my own burger, but still he does it for me because he knows I don’t like to cut my own burger… (this isn’t about a burger).”
And another user added:
“Someone will do things for you just because it makes you smile, it makes your life easier, and just to make your day a lot or even just a little bit better. Not because the other doesn’t know how, but because you love/care for the other so much that doing these small gestures is a way of showing love.”
Old theory revived
The theory that is trending on Tik Tok is not a new one. Relationship therapist, John Gottmann started this theory. It is an example of ‘bids’. And a bid is defined as an act or request from one partner to another partner in order to seek attention, affection, affirmation, or such other positive connections.
