Aliens (1986) was the second instalment movie in the horror/action Aliens series. It introduced a talented child actress to the world. This actress won accolades and awards for her impressive acting. But, unfortunately, she did not pursue acting and later became a teacher. We are talking of Carrie Henn who played the character of Newt in this movie. At that time, she was just ten years of age.

Carrie Henn accidentally entered the entertainment industry. She had no ambitions to do so. But, in 1984, talent agents approached her when she was at her school’s cafeteria. This was when her father was based in Lakeheath in England. They clicked her photos and offered her the role. Later, Carrie went to Pinewood studios and had auditioned for the role in Aliens along with her brother, Christopher Henn. Fortunately, both brother and sister bagged roles in the film. Carrie played the role of Newt and her real life elder brother, Christopher played Newt’s elder brother, Timmy in reel life.

Carrie had the opportunity to share screen space with eminent stars such as Sigourney Weaver. Carrie’s acting appealed to the masses and critics. The film released in 1986. And in 1987, Carrie got the Saturn Award for the best acting performance by a younger actress or actor. Moreover , she was nominated in 1987 for Young Artists awards. Later, in 2003, Carrie was again nominated for a DVD special award for the commentary she gave on the Alien Quadrilogy box set.

Carrie hails from the USA. She was born on 7 May 1976 in Florida. Her father, Master Sergeant Kenneth Henn, served the US Air force in the capacity of a non-commissioned officer. In the mid-1980s, he was posted in the UK. Hence, the family relocated to England. Carrie’s mother, Roseleen, is of British descent and was a nurse . She left her job after Carrie’s birth in order to look after the family well.

In 1986, the family returned to the USA. They resided at Castle Air force base. It was here that all of them viewed Aliens for the first time. It was screened at the local Merced California theater.

Carrie went to Atwater High school that is at Atwater in California. She graduated in 1994. Later, Carrie joined the California State University situated at Turlock in California. It was in 2000 that she obtained a BA degree in Liberal studies from there.

Where is Carrie now?

Despite her talent, Carrie did not pursue acting as a career. Instead, she opted to remain out of limelight. She took up school teaching as a profession. And now, Carrie works as an elementary school teacher at Shaffer Elementary school in Atwater. In 2016, in an interview given to Tulsa World, Carrie said:

“That’s what a lot of people have a hard time understanding.”

“They don’t understand that [acting] wasn’t my passion. It wasn’t my dream. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it an amazing experience? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Of course.”

“But it wasn’t my passion. Teaching was.”

She met and dated her fellow classmate, Nathan Kutcher. Later, in 2005, the two married. Nathan was with her at the California State University. But he did his BA in criminal justice and completed it in 2000. Later, he joined the police force and is an officer there.

Though far away from the entertainment industry now, Carrie still remains in contact with her co-star, Sigourney Weaver.

In 2014 on 26 April, there was a reunion meet of the Aliens cast. This was held at Stampede Corral at Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo. There was a plan to make Alien Identity film from 2015. But the plan was shelved because 20th Century Fox sued the producers, Sonnet Realm Films and asked them to cease making the film.
