How long will the work and social life of the people suffer due to the coronavirus scare?
- The coronavirus pandemic has taken the world by storm
- Every aspect of the life of the people globally has been suffering due to the fear of the deadly virus
Hospitals and labs are overburdened, elective surgeries are postponed, and people are staying at home practicing social distancing. The gyms, cinema houses, schools, colleges, parties, and people gatherings are all stopped.
Currently, people are abiding by the regulations of the government to prevent the spread of the virus. But one question that keeps arising amidst all these bans is how long will life go on in this way!
How long will humanity suffer amidst the coronavirus scare?
The deadly coronavirus has scared the world. It has far-reaching social and economic implications. Presently, people are following all precautions to prevent viral spread. But how long would such a distorted lifestyle continue?
Scientists state that it could be a year before such a changed pattern of living will need to be adopted. Otherwise, more people might die.
What do experts say?
Dr. Anthony Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and is a member of the White House coronavirus task force.
At a Monday White House press conference, he said:
“Some may look at [the guidelines] … and say, well, maybe we’ve gone a little bit too far,”
“They were well thought out. And the thing that I want to reemphasize … when you’re dealing with an emerging infectious diseases outbreak, you are always behind where you think you are if you think that today reflects where you really are.”
The bitter truth is that the virus will continue to cause outbreaks until we find a cure for it or a vaccine to prevent it. But neither is currently available against coronavirus.

The hard untold truth
Normally, governments think that keeping schools and other major establishments closed for a couple of weeks will halt the spread. But this is an illusion.
Adam Kucharski, an epidemiologist at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine who has authored the book The Rules of Contagion, states:
“I think this idea … that if you close schools and shut restaurants for a couple of weeks, you solve the problem and get back to normal life — that’s not what’s going to happen,”
He adds:
“The main message that isn’t getting across to a lot of people is just how long we might be in this for.”
“this virus is going to be circulating, potentially for a year or two, so we need to be thinking on those time scales. There are no good options here. Every scenario you can think of playing out has some really hefty downsides. … At the moment, it seems the only way to sustainably reduce transmission are really severe unsustainable measures.”
We are in for a long haul of life disruption. Adam says:
“There’s no way [the virus] is going to go away in the next few weeks,”
