Where is the future of the US leading to? A six-year-old student from Richneck Elementary School shot his female school teacher on purpose, not accidentally cause. Police official Drew on the Virginia shooting confirmed,
“The individual is a 6-year-old student. We have been in contact with our commonwealth attorney and some other entities to help us best get services to this young man.”
Richneck Principal Briana Foster Newton who concealed the information about his student and teacher in the shooting released a statement. He told the press,
“My heart is aching for our school community. The tragic event that occurred on Friday impacts all of us deeply.”
An unnamed first grader in a class at Richneck Elementary in Virginia town shot his teacher right in the abdomen. As per the update, Abby Zwerner was shot when tried to confiscate the gun.
The teacher was bleeding when she asked her other students to run. She is hospitalized after her life-threatening injuries from a gunshot.
Daniel Webster, a gun violence expert professor at Johns Hopkins University on the recent mishap to a teacher by an underage student told,
“A six-year-old gaining access to a loaded gun and shooting him/herself or someone else, sadly, is not so rare.”
Upon investigation, it was pretty clear that it was a single-round fire with no other victims or injuries. Later, the teacher who was shot was identified as Abby Zwerner, by her alma mater, James Madison University, as President Jonathan R. Alger through their official Facebook page added,
“All of us at James Madison University are deeply saddened by the reported tragic shooting of JMU alumna Abby Zwerner. JMU is prepared to support those impacted by this incident now and in the coming weeks.”

Talking about the investigation, Officer Drew on how the kid got the firearm is ongoing while the situation of the injured teacher remains stable added,
“We’ll get the investigation done, there are questions we’ll want to ask and find out about. I want to know where that firearm came from, what was the situation.”
Newport News Mayor Phillip D. Jones on being answerable to the whole community Tweeted,
“It is almost impossible to wrap our minds around the fact that a 6-year-old 1st grader brought a loaded handgun to school and shot a teacher; however, this is exactly what our community is grappling with today.”
Meanwhile, on talking about how the authorities are working to ensure the child receives support, while getting their answers on the Virginia shooting, added,
“Authorities are working diligently to get an answer to the question we are all asking – how did this happen? We are also working to ensure the child receives the support and services he needs as we continue to process what took place.”
Similarly, Newport News Public Schools Superintendent Dr. George Parker asked for better gun safety measures from the community to keep firearms away from children.
“I’m in shock and disheartened. We need to educate our children and we need to keep them safe. We need the community’s support, continued support, to make sure that guns are not available to youth and I’m sounding like a broken record today, because I continue to reiterate that: that we need to keep the guns out of the hands of our young people.”
