Zac Efron: The secret of his radical body transformation for The Iron Claw movie role!

The Iron Claw trailer is out and viewers are amazed to see the radical body transformation of actor Zac Efron.

Zac is a wrestling star in this movie and the 36-year-old has gone almost unrecognizable over the years from his High School Musical days. Know the secret of this dramatic body transformation of Zac.

American actor, Zac Efron, 36 plays the role of one of the wrestling Von Erich brothers, who had reached fame in the 1970s in sports, in the upcoming film The Iron Claw that is scheduled to release in the USA on 22 December 2023. Zac is Kevin Von Erich in it.

Zac had played a teen idol in High School Musical and over the years, he has transformed significantly based on the demands of his character in a movie.

In The Iron Claw, he has a more mature and athletic role. Accordingly, Zac made diet and exercise changes to change his body to suit the role. The efforts were evident in the trailer of the movie that came out just a few days back.

Zac is almost unrecognizable in the trailer. He has long and unkempt hair with more angular face and a muscular and athletic physique. His dedication and versatility to suit a role is clear in this movie.

Earlier for Baywatch (2017), Zac had done some amazing changes to his body in order to be at par with his role.

Diet and exercise changes of Zac

Zac was a vegan. But for this role, he switched to a meat and organ diet. He also went to intermittent fasting with just two meals a day. Talking about it, Zac said in an interview with Men’s Health:

“I started intermittent fasting just after I stopped being vegan,”

“My body wasn’t processing the vegetables in the right way.”

He continued:

So, I decided to stop it and try something new.

“Intermittent fasting has been really helpful with that.”

After his morning gym routine and cardio, Zac has a meat-heavy brunch at 11 am. This consists of bone broth soup with vegetables and clean proteins such as elk and chicken.

He has nothing at lunch time and no snacks. Later in the evening, he used to eat meat with a healthy carbohydrate portion such as sweet potatoes or quinoa. Zac explained:

“This is kind of weird, but I really like organ meats. I love liver and onions,”

Zac also changed and intensified his exercise regime to get more muscle bulk.

What do Zac’s co-stars feel about Zac and his body transformation? Actor Jeremy Allen White is surprised by Zac’s dedication to his work. He told Esquire:

Zac’s a maniac,”

He added:

“He’s so focused and knowledgeable on training, diet, all that.”

“In terms of a physical transformation, I think he kind of blew us all out of the water.”

“He looks really amazing in this thing.

Jeremy portrays the character of Kerry Von Erich in this movie. When he was signed for the role, Zac sent him a message that read:

“Get training, eat, keep doing what you’re doing, stay hard.”

For Baywatch, Zac had used diuretics with intense exercise and three normal meals in a day. But he had problems with that regime. Zac developed insomnia and depression that continued for a long time.

After the shoot for Baywatch ended, Zac took a break and decided to eat what he wanted without diuretics and go out of shape. But it did not help and he felt miserable. And now he is back to his proper diet schedule and exercise regime and feels better.
