During an appearance on the Sherri talk show on January 30, 2025, Vann shared the joyful news that they had an “intimate” wedding ceremony.
Host Sherri Shepherd, 57, asked Amirah if she was tired of people asking when she would get married.
Vann responded, “They ain’t got to say that no more” and excitedly showed off her new sparkling ring.
She then joyfully declared,
“We’s married!”
The wedding ceremony took place at Universal Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, and was attended by fewer than ten guests, primarily family members.
The church is significant to the bride, as it is her childhood church where her godfather, who also served as the pastor, brought her home from the hospital.
She expressed her sentiment by stating,
“We did it in my church that I grew up in, in Brooklyn Universal Baptist Church”
The 44-year-old actress expressed her love for her husband and mentioned that she enjoys being married.
She enthusiastically stated, “I love it,” while referencing her new ring, saying, “I don’t need any more turmeric,” and added that there would be “all kinds of necessities with this hand now.”
Similarly, when Shepherd joked if she was dazzled by the new diamond, she then responded,
“I’ll tell you what I need is some pills ’cause my head is blurring. It’s just so bright and shiny, I love it,”
Vann described her wedding as small and sweet, just as she had always wanted it to be. She emphasized the importance of having their parents present, especially as they grew older.
She explained,
“Everyone just already assumed we were married and we hadn’t done it, and we just finally- we were like it’s time to, It was so simple less than 10 people were there. It was like, you know, our parents are getting older, and that was the biggest thing for me. I wanted the elders there.”
Additionally, Vann expressed that she never desired an extravagant wedding. She said,
“Everything is so big and we love it and appreciate the glam, but I wanted that day to be actually more intimate and quiet, I was like I don’t need all this. My life is this. For that was us.”
