Angelina Jolie talks about her two daughters who recently underwent surgeries!
American actress Angelina Jolie recently revealed on Women’s Day that her two daughters underwent surgeries. And they wanted her to make people aware of it.
Angelina Jolie talks surgeries of her two daughters
The famed actress spoke about the operations of her two daughters, namely, Zahara, 15, and Shiloh, 13. They had faced these invasive medical challenges.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the actress put up a first-person essay for Time magazine. She wrote that both Zahara and Shiloh had hospital stays recently for surgery and they helped care for each other. Angelina penned:
“I have spent the last two months in and out of surgeries with my eldest daughter, and days ago watched her younger sister go under the knife for a hip surgery,”
She continued:
“They know that I am writing this, because I respect their privacy and we discussed it together and they encouraged me to write. They understand that going through medical challenges and fighting to survive and heal is something to be proud of.”
What surgery did Zahara and Shiloh have?
In the article, Angelina mentioned the surgery but did not expand more on it. She spoke more about how the kids had supported each other during these trying times.
When Zahara was operated on, Angelina said that both Shiloh and Vivienne, 11 were on her side to support her. Talking about it, Angelina revealed:
“I have watched my daughters care for one another. My youngest daughter studied the nurses with her sister, and then assisted the next time. I saw how all my girls so easily stopped everything and put each other first, and felt the joy of being of service to those they love.”
Further, the proud mother added:
“I also watched them their face fears with a resolute bravery. We all know that moment when no one else can help us, and all we can do is close our eyes and breathe. When only we can take the next step or breath through the pain, so we steady ourselves and do it.”
Angelina Jolie’s surgeries
Angelina is aware of the ordeal of operations since she had surgery on her body in 2013. She had undergone a preventive double mastectomy to cut down the risk of her developing breast cancer.
Angelina’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, had died in 2007 due to breast cancer. She was only 56 years old at that time. Besides, Angelina’s aunt and grandmother also died of a similar disease.
Angelina also disclosed that her sons, Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, and Knox, 11, were there to support their siblings at this dark hour. She penned:
“Their brothers were there for them, supportive and sweet. But on this International Women’s Day, writing from the hospital, I find myself focusing on my daughters for a moment, and all that I have learned from them and other young girls I have met around the world.”
She concluded:
“So my wish on this day is that we value girls. Care for them. And know that the stronger they grow, the healthier they will be and the more they will give back to their family and community.”
