The late actress was peacefully taken out of life support nine days after she suffered fatal injuries in a car crash that ultimately took her life. They finally found someone who was a perfect match to receive her donated organs.
Her spokesperson said in a statement:
”Heche has been peacefully taken off life support,”
On August 5, the actress was critically injured when her Mini Cooper went out of control and crashed into a house in the Mar Vista neighborhood in Los Angeles. The accident was so terrible that her car and the house were engulfed in flames.
59 firefighters worked hard to extinguish the blaze.
Family and friends mourned the loss of the late actress
The LA police department said that the 53-year-old suffered a severe anoxic brain injury after the crash and even had narcotics in her system.
The Men in Trees actress got into a coma three days after the crash and remained in critical condition for days. She was then declared legally dead on August 12.
Despite her death, the actress and philanthropist remained on life support to give OneLegacy Foundation enough time to find a good match to receive her donated organs.
Her death impacted many and her family issued a statement in her honor. It read:
“Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend,” the statement read. “Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.”
”Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”
Many close friends and former partners of the stars paid a tribute to her. Ellen DeGeneres who dated Heche from 1997 to 2000 tweeted:
“I’m sending Anne’s children, family and friends all of my love.”
