Boaz Weinstein, Saba Capital founder divorces his wife of 14 years, Tali Farhadian!

It is the end of yet another celebrity marriage. New York hedge fund founder Boaz Weinstein, 51 has filed for divorce from his wife, former Manhattan District Attorney candidate, Tali Farhadian.

The Saba Capital hedge fund founder of New York, Boaz Weinstein, 51 is divorcing his wife, Tali Farhadian. Ryan Casson who represents her told New York Post:

“Tali Farhadian Weinstein and Boaz Weinstein have decided to end their marriage. Tali is not planning to make any other public statements and hopes that her family’s privacy will be respected,”

Boaz’s spokesperson said:

“This is an amicable dissolution involving two people who fully respect one another. They expect the divorce to be resolved quickly and hope their family’s privacy will be respected,”

The relationship of the couple

Tali met Boaz at a book party that was at the UJA-Federation of New York, at the Central Synagogue in Manhattan. They started dating.

Later, Tali and Boaz exchanged wedding vows in November 2010. The marriage venue was The Central Synagogue in Manhattan. It was an extravagant affair and Rabbi James Ponet performed the Jewish ceremony. The couple has three daughters together.

When Boaz worked for Obama administration as an attorney general, Tali was working for former US attorney general, Eric Holder, 73. Boaz donates for Democrats since a long time. In 2012, the couple bought a mansion near the Central Park in Fifth Avenue, Upper East side of Manhattan worth USD 25.5 million.

And now comes the end of the marriage of this power couple. The divorce is unsettled and heavily contested. The independent New York family lawyer Chaim Steinberger opines:

“If this had been a done deal, there would have been a settlement agreement. Clearly, there is a fly in the ointment,”

“The defendant felt the need to seek immediate judicial intervention,”

Professional life of the couple

Boaz left his job of co-head, World Trading at Deutsche Bank and started his own hedge fund company, Saba Capital in 2009 at the Chrysler Building. His wealth increased tremendously when he made a successful bet against JP Morgan in 2011.

He brought to limelight the huge credit-default swap index trade of the  ex-JPMorgan trader Bruno Iksil (London Whale). And as a result of this, his firm net worth rose to USD 6 billion in 2012.

While Tali is a refugee from Iran. She is a Jew who fled to the USA in 1979 when she was just 4 years old. Additionally, she is a Rhodes scholar who studied at the Oxford University. She had served as a clerk for the Supreme court justice Sandra Day O’Connor and was also a prosecutor at local and federal courts.

Tali has Wall Street contacts. With their help, she started a campaign against Alvin Bragg in 2021 for the post of Manhattan Attorney General. The top New York financiers such as Bill Ackman of Pershing Square and Citadel’s Ken Griffin had donated more than USD 2 million for her race.

Though Tali’s nomination was endorsed by Hillary Clinton, she had a narrow loss. Alvin earned 34 3% votes while Tali got 30.7%.
