Banton’s career began at the age of 12 when he started working with the Sweet Love and Rambo Mango Sound Systems, under the moniker of Gargamel.

In 1988, at the age of 15, he recorded his first song “Boom Bye Bye”.

His 13th studio album and his first in a decade Upside Down 2020 was released on June 26, 2020.
