Ghanaian Soccer star Christian Atsu, 31, tragically died in devastating earthquake that hit Turkey, and Syria

Ghanian soccer star Christian Atsu, who has been missing for the last two weeks following the earthquake disaster in Turkey, has been found dead. He was just 31.
On February 6, the magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit Turkey and Syria, killing at least 45,513 people, with at least 39,672 dying in Turkey.
In the immediate aftermath, it was reported that the Ghanian player had been located and was in a hospital but two days after Sechere gave an update on Atsu that he was still missing.
Christian Atsu was found dead under the rubble of his apartment building after devastating earthquakes
The player’s death was confirmed by his agent, Nana Sechere that Atsu was found on Saturday, February 18.
Sechere took to Twitter to mourn the death of his client, Christian Atsu in a heartbreaking statement that reads,
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce to all well wishers that sadly Christian Atsu’s body was recovered this morning. My deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their prayers and support..”
Murat Uzumehment, his Turkish agent, provided more details on the death of Hatayspor player Atsu. We found his lifeless body under the rubble of a destroyed building in Antakya.
Uzumehment added,
“Currently, more items are still being taken out. His phone was also found.”
His club, Hatayaspor also paid tribute to his death, issuing a statement on Twitter that reads,
“We will not forget you, Atsu. Peace be upon you, beautiful person. There are no words to describe our sadness,”
Further, Newcastle United, Chelsea, London club, and others were among those who outpour tribute and condolence to their former player and his family.
Christian Atsu’s three children—two boys and a girl—as well as his wife Marie-Claire Rupio, survive him.
