Damar Hamlin debuts a new tattoo on the back of his neck in memory of his one-year cardiac arrest.

He tattooed a heart-hand symbol with an electrocardiogram in the center, which he dedicated to his near-death experience.

During the January 2, 2023, game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills safety, 25-year-old Hamlin, collapsed on the field after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Medical professionals gave nearly 10 minutes of CPR to him on the field after he remained unresponsive. However, moments later his “heartbeat was restored” and was taken to the hospital in Ohio.

Damar got inked by a tattoo artist Alexander Brenes, who shared the athlete’s tattoo on his official Instagram page alongside a caption,

“1 year later still locked in,”

Similarly, the player commented underneath Brenes’ post with three emojis including the hand heart symbol, his jersey number, and an angel wing.

On Sunday, December 31, Damar shared an Instagram post reflecting on his journey over the past year after suffering cardiac arrest. He wrote,

“It took me all of 2023 to find myself again, It’s a tough year to explain man … you just had to be there!”

Similarly, he paid tribute to his on-field health scare anniversary with a post on GoFunMe.
