Career struggle

In order to pursue an acting career, she went against her parents and left her home state of Massachusetts in 1979 and headed to New York City.

Previously, she performed on the stage frequently and appeared in commercials until she got her first television role in 1980 on the daytime drama, All My Children as the character of a topless dancer named Sheila.

She also performed as Helen in Second Verse, a one-act comedy by Sharon Tipsword, which was presented at New York’s Nat Horne Theatre as a component of a play, in the same year.

Her stage performance in A.R. Gurney’s The Middle Ages as a young bride Eleanor in 1985, which was played at the Whole Theatre Company, was notable as well. After that, she was praised by and featured in various newspapers like The New York Times.

She worked in the Emmy Award-winning television series From the Earth to the Moon. She continued her acting in numerous small plays, TV series, and films in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.

Her role as Mae in the 1990 production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and in That ‘70s Show as Red’s encouraging wife is commendable. Even in her 60s, she is still keeping up her work and recently has worked in commercial ads by providing her voice to Mrs. Snowman.
