In 1990, Delta publicly expressed her dissatisfaction with the show on an interview with Barbara Walters. She argued on Entertainment Tonight(ET) that there was labor dispute in labor in ‘Designing Women‘. The actors in the show, according to her, were regularly forced to work over more than 15 hours a day. Sometimes, the executives even blocked the doors to keep the actors on set.

That also sparked tension between her and her close friend, Dixie Carter who was the maid of honor at her wedding. Burke claimed that she was siding with her bosses. In 1991, at the end of the fifth season of the show, she was let go from her contract because of her sour relations with Dixie and the show’s producers.
