At the age of nine, Diogo Dalot joined Porto’s youth system and made his senior debut on 28 January 2017 during a game against Leixoes.

On 6 June 2018, he signed a five-year deal worth, £19 million for the Premiere League club, Manchester United. He played his debut game against the Swiss side Young Boys, making his team debut on 19 September 2018.

He went on to play against known clubs like  Southampton, Paris Saint-Germain, and Tranmere Rovers.

Italian Serie A side Milan lent him for the 2020-21 season and he played his debut game for Milan on 22 October, in a UEFA Europa League group stage match.

He played as a right-back as well as a left-back during his season at Milan.

Afterward, he returned back to Manchester United by signing another contract in the summer of 2021.

His performance impressed his coach, Ole Gunnar Solsjaer, and rejected the loan deal with Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

International Career

Appearing in various junior international games, Diogo Dalot made his senior debut for Portugal on 13 June 2021, as a replacement for João Cancelo. 

Following that, he was called up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, in Qatar to represent Portugal’s 55-man squad.

During the opening match at 947 Stadium Qatar, Portugal beat Ghana by 3-2 on November 24, Thursday, 2022 at FIFA World Cup 2022.

With a solid ongoing match, Portugal won over Uruguay by 2-0, on November 28, 2022, at Lusail Stadium, Qatar.

Recently, On December 2, 2022, Portugal played against South Korea at Education City Stadium and lost the match by 2-1 in the end.

Though Portugal lost in the end, it was able to keep its place in round 16.

On December 7, 2022, Portugal lost against Croatia by 0-1 and was out of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
