Shannon Amos wrote in the GoFundMe that she set up on John Amos’ behalf as he was “fighting for his life in the ICU”. The GoFundMe page, which is currently unavailable, reads,

“The past two weeks shattered our world My dad, a victim of elder abuse and financial exploitation. We are collaborating with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and local authorities, determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. Legal assistance is crucial to ensure their prosecution and protect my father’s future. His home, stripped bare, necessitates a safe space for his return,”

Amos claimed that she received a troubling call from her father informing her that he was in a hospital in Memphis.

She hasn’t given many specifics about the caretaker, who she believed to be his father’s abuser. Also, she hasn’t disclosed the nature of the abuse directed toward her father.

According to reports, the campaign had a goal of $500,000 and had collected $13,000 up until John exposed his daughter‘s claim as a flat-out falsehood.

The 83-year-old actor shared a video from his hospital bed acknowledging he hasn’t been in a life-or-death struggle.

His representative, Belinda Foster told TMZ that John was admitted to the hospital but was not in life-threatening danger.

He was sent to the hospital because fluid had accumulated in his lower body up to his abdomen. As a result, it led to problems with his heart.

However, doctors have drained all of the fluid and he has since been on the mend.

What did John Amos say about her daughter’s inappropriate behavior?

John Amos told the outlet that he has no idea why his daughter started the fundraising.

Besides, he revealed he was never the victim of any abuse and financial exploitation as described on the GoFundMe page.

While speaking to PEOPLE, he explained,

“I am not in ICU, nor was I ever fighting for my life. … I want the GoFundMe campaign about me to stop immediately and the funds subsequently returned to those who made donations. My son and I will reveal more information at the appropriate time.”

In response to the abuse claim, he remarked in a video,

“She would be the primary suspect — if you would, I don’t know if that’s the right term to use or not. But she’s the one that I would attribute my elderly abuse to. It’s definitely a case of elderly abuse.”

Shannon, on the other hand, released a statement through her representatives, stating,

“Ms. Amos is disheartened at the continuation of false and defamatory statements being made against her by, or on behalf of, or in connection with news reports based on social media posts by Mr. Kelly K.C. Amos. … She is exploring all legal remedies available to her. Ms. Amos hopes this matter will be resolved soon through the proper authorities.”
