Kevin Costner reacts to Christine’s divorce filing

Kevin Costner felt devastated after his wife Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce, ending their 18-year-long marriage.

The actor’s first marriage ended in an $80 million divorce settlement amid multiple cheating allegations. However, a close friend of the actor said, “There was no issue of cheating at all.”

The last time the couple was seen together was at the Oscars bash. Everything between the couple seemed perfectly fine at the time.

The friend said,

“Kevin was very surprised by Christine’s actions, he obviously doesn’t want the divorce and he would take her back.
“It’s disappointing, he loves her and he loves his children.”

The now exes share three kids together: Cayden, 15, Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 12.

Kevin, 68, had dated a string of Hollywood actresses and models from Halle Berry to Elle Macpherson. While filming for Yellowstone in Montana, Costner spent months away from home which put a lot of pressure on his marriage.

The Waterworld actor once said,

“The temptations are pretty strong and there’s a hungry world out there waiting for you to fall. So you can’t even dabble without paying a huge price. I try to conduct my life with a certain amount of dignity and discretion but marriage is a hard, hard gig.”

A rep for the actor said that any rumors of the actor cheating on his wife are absolutely not true.

Costner does not know the reason for his divorce

When asked about the potential cause for Baumgartner and Costner’s divorce, the friend said,

“I have no idea if Kevin even knows what the reasons are.”

Another source close to the actor also said,

“No-one knew about any issues. He was not ‘sequestered’ on the set and would often go home to visit his family.”

The former model shocked everyone when she filed for divorce on Monday citing irreconcilable differences after nearly two years of marriage.

The handbag designer also requested joint custody of their three kids. Christine, however, did not wish for any spousal support as there is reportedly a prenup in place to protect the actor’s millions of dollar fortune.

The actor’s rep denied discussing the actor’s financial arrangement, saying,

“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.”
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”

Costner is busy filming a new series Horizon, an American Saga in Utah of which he is also the writer and director.

The friend added,

“He’s shooting right now and it’s all very upsetting, you don’t expect your wife to file for divorce when you least expect it.”
