The daughter of comedian Stan Laurel, Lois Laurel Hawes,  has died aged 89. Hawes died late on Friday night at a Los Angeles hospital after a long illness, her family said.

An American actress, Lois Laurel, is the daughter of great Hollywood personalities Lois Neilson and Stan Laurel. She is best known for Hollywood’s Spareribs. Lois had a very happy childhood and recalls sailing on the family yacht (recreational boat or ship) saying that her father loved boating and fishing. She also went on the sets of Laurel And Hardy frequently.

Her mother was Laurel’s first wife, Lois Neilson. Her mother was the first of Laurel’s four wives, silent-movie actress Lois Neilson. Similarly, her brother, also named Stanley, died nine days after his premature birth in 1930. Laurel and his partner, Oliver Hardy, had decades of success. Trademark bowler hats were worn by them. The dim-witted sidekick to the pompous Hardy was played by Laurel.

They made more than 100 films but Laurel retired after Hardy died in 1957. Laurel was 74 when he died in February 1965. He had retired from acting after Hardy’s death in August 1957 at age 65. Hawes made uncredited appearances in several of their productions.

Lois Laurel was previously married to Rand Brooks, an American film actor, originally from St. Louis, Missouri but got divorced after 28 years of their marriage. They had two children together and the reason behind their split is unknown to the media.

Laurel got engaged to Tony Hawes after five years, who was also an actor and writer by profession and they lived together until his death of him. But sadly she lost her husband in 1997. She is survived by a daughter, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Born in Beverly Hills on Dec. 10, 1927, Hawes frequently visited the film sets of her father and “Uncle Babe” Hardy and, according to IMDb, appeared uncredited in at least two Laurel & Hardy pictures, The Chimp (1932) and Swiss Miss (1938).

Later, she appeared in documentaries about the duo, worked to preserve their legacy, and was a popular guest of the Sons of the Desert, the worldwide fan club dedicated to the work of Laurel & Hardy.  A private ambulance company in Glendale, Calif., was founded by her and Brooks. this served the community for two decades.

Born to actor parents, acting is in her gene which drives her to pursue her career in movies. She has played a varied role in numerous movies. Her breakthrough performance in One Moment Please gives her a new height of popularity.

Even she appeared in Hollywoods Spareribs – Als die Bilder Lachen lernten (2014) and Laurel & Hardy: Their Lives and Magic (2011).
