A family of four! Kristen Holmes and her husband Noah Gray have expanded their family. The couple have welcomed their second child, a daughter named Eleanor Ricky Gray.

A representative for Holmes confirmed to PEOPLE that her daughter, Eleanor, was born in Washington D.C. at 7:58 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 19.5 inches long.

The name Eleanor Ricky honors Kristen’s grandmother, Eleanor Romano, and Noah’s father, Ricky, whom the couple describes as two of the kindest people they have known.

Kristen and Noah are also parents to 3-year-old son Eliot.

The mom-to-two shared that their son, Eliot, “is already in love with his new baby sister” and is eager to “care for her.”

Homes said to the outlet,

“Eliot meeting Eleanor was one of the sweetest encounters my husband and I have ever witnessed. He wanted to cover her in kisses and make sure she has everything she needed.”

She then humorously added,

“He was also very excited by the gift Eleanor brought him to the hospital — she shocked him by knowing his love of Hot Wheels from birth,”

Kristen Holmes reflects on the challenge of balancing career and motherhood

Despite the challenges of balancing her demanding job as a national correspondent for CNN and motherhood, Kristen Homes finds this period “rewarding.”

She has been working at CNN for over 12 years and described the past year as “grueling” yet fulfilling.

She aimed to manage both her career ambitions and the desire to expand her family simultaneously. The correspondent shared,

“Seeing a campaign through from start to finish was one of my ultimate career goals, but it was also incredibly important to me to grow my family and give Eliot a sibling, so I set out to do both, It was a lot of compartmentalization.”

Throughout the past years, she found herself in a different state each day, often without time to reflect on her actions. She explained,

“For much of the last year I was in a new state every day without time to even think about what I was physically doing — waking up at 4 a.m., sometimes with intense morning sickness, getting on a flight at 6 a.m., covering a campaign rally in a swing state, and then doing it all over again the next day.”

Despite these challenges, Holmes feels “lucky” to be in her current situation. She recalled a moment when she was eight months pregnant and told her husband,

“‘Oh my god, we’re going to have another baby in the house.’ And he was like, ‘…yes?'”

Additionally, she expressed gratitude for the support of her husband, Noah, which allowed her to pursue both her career and family goals.

“All of this was only possible with the help and support of my incredibly patient husband and I’m constantly reminded how lucky I am to be able to pursue my career ambitions, as well as my dreams of building a family.”

Kristen, a native of Oklahoma, married her husband, Noah Gray, on September 7, 2019, in a private ceremony officiated by Rabbi Jonathan Fisch at a home in Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Noah serves as Chief of Communications for DC Fire and EMS. Previously, he also worked for CNN.

Holmes worked as an on-air correspondent while Gray was a White House and political producer.

The two first connected over the phone in 2015 when Noah called Kristen about breaking news while she was an on-air producer at the White House.

They met face-to-face a year later while covering the Trump campaign.
