Lizzo announces she is quitting her musical career

Lizzo is having a tough time.

The singer who is currently facing a sexual harassment lawsuit, seemingly hinted at her decision to quit the music industry via an Instagram post on Friday night.

The Grammy winner started her emotional statement,

“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet,”

“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it.”

The Good as Hell hitmaker added,

“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views … my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,”

She concluded,

 “I didn’t sign up for this s–t — I QUIT.”

The singer’s statement comes shortly after attorneys for her former backup dancers — Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez — criticized her for performing at a re-election fundraiser for President Biden Thursday evening.

Ron Zambrano told one publication,

“It’s shameful that Lizzo would be chosen to headline an event like this amid such egregious allegations,”

“Without getting into the politics, I can’t imagine why anyone would want Lizzo representing them in any way given her reprehensible behavior. It’s just a terrible look.”

How did Lizzo react to the sexual harassment accusations?

The three dancers sued the singer in August 2023 for reportedly creating a toxic work environment and sexually harassing them.

In one of the harassment that took place in Amsterdam’s Red Light District, the suit claimed,

“Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas.”

One of the dancers claimed that the songstress forced her to fondle a nude performer’s breasts and that she reportedly shamed her for gaining weight.

Just hours after the lawsuit came out, Lizzo’s former creative director Quinn Whitney Wilson, and dancer Courtney Hollinquest also said they were victims of similar situations.

After that, documentarian Sophia Nahli alleged she “walked away” from working with Lizzo after two weeks because she was treated with disrespect.

Despite all such grave allegations, the Emmy winner said that she was innocent in a lengthy statement she shared on Instagram on August 3, 2023.

The Truth Hurts singer began,

“I am very open with my sexuality and expressing myself but I cannot accept or allow people to use that openness to make me out to be something I am not,”

“There is nothing I take more seriously than the respect we deserve as women in the world.”

Despite the star’s threaten to countersue, the allegations kept raining on her. Just a month later, Lizzo’s former staff, Asha Daniels, filed a lawsuit accusing her of turning a blind eye to a verbally and physically abusive manager.

However, there were eighteen of her employees signed declarations supporting the pop star that the harassment claims in October 2023.
