Why is Mark Mester fired from KTLA?
The KTLA-fired anchor Mark Mester was suspended previously for going off-script during the on-air show. He disclosed the truth about how his long-time co-anchor was treated during his resignation.
On Sept. 14, 2022, KTLA announced that Romero quit after nearly 24 years at the station to pursue another opportunity. The station announced stating,
“KTLA worked hard to make that happen. Lynette, we wish you luck, we miss you and we thank you for everything you’ve done for KTLA. … On behalf of everyone here, we wish you and your family nothing but the best.”

How did Mark Mester defend his best friend, co-host Lynette Romero?
Mark Mester called the management team rude and cruel as they handled his best friend’s Lynette Romere resignation inappropriately. He on Sept 17, 2022, spent a portion of his KTLA days shows addressing,
“The way it handled the resignation was rude, it was cruel, it was inappropriate, and we are so sorry. You did not deserve this. It was a mistake, and we hope you can find it in your heart to forgive us.”
“What the viewers experienced was rude, it was cruel, it was inappropriate, and we are so sorry. I also want to say sorry to Lynette Romero because, Lynette, I love you so much. You really are my best friend. You did not deserve what happened to you on Wednesday.”

It is not clear yet why Lynette Romero did not record the farewell message.
KTLA had not bid a good farewell to the former employees but had announced the same. The station news director Pete Saiers said,
“After 24 years, Lynette Romero has decided to move on from anchoring our weekend morning news. We really wanted her to stay and KTLA Management worked hard to make that happen.”
The fired news anchor based in Los Angeles, then added how Lynette left them for a better opportunity without recording a farewell message to her fans,
“Lynette decided to leave for another opportunity. We had hoped she would record a farewell message to viewers but she declined. Lynette has been a wonderful member of the KTLA family and wish her and her family the best.”
