Marlene Favela was born on August 5, 1976, in Santiago Papasquiaro, Durango, Mexico. She is currently 47 years old and holds Mexican nationality. She was born to her father Felipe Favela and her mother Silvia Meraz de Favela. Marlene, along with her siblings Laura, Mabel, Alain, and Deborah grew up in Santiago.

She further made appearance in many telenovelas including María Isabel (1997), Mujeres engañadas (1999), Por tu amor (1999), Infierno en el paraíso (1999), La casa en la playa (2000), and many more. 

She got recognition for her role as Esmeralda/Sister Eva in the television show Ugly Betty.

In 2004, Marlene portrayed Sonia Chavvaria in the movie Rubí, la descarada, in 2007, she played Azura in the movie titled Species: The Awakening.

Apart from being an actress, Marlene is the CEO and established many companies Marlene Favela Store, Marlene Favela Fashion, and Boutique Bella Seely. Furthermore, she presented awards at the Billboard Mexican Music Awards in 2013.

She has been cast in a lead role in the television series Pasión y poder(2015-2016), La desalmada (2021), El amor invincible (2023), El maleficio(2023).
