Michael Madsen divorces his wife of 28 years

It is a sad ending to a marital relationship of 28 years. American actor, Michael Madsen, 66 and his actress third wife, DeAnna Morgan, 64 have put in their legal papers for separation in the court.

The Court documents claim that the reason for this separation is irreconcilable differences between the two. The date of separation has been put as 25 January 2022. This is a few days after their son Hudson had a suicidal death. He was 26 at the time of his sudden death.

The date of filing the divorce documents in the Los Angeles court is 17 September 2024. In these papers, their wedding date is put as 15 April 1996.

However, along with the divorce petition, Michael has also attached a statement in which he accused DeAnna of driving their son Hudson to suicide. It states that DeAnna neglected Hudson and was into deep alcoholism that led to her not taking proper care of Hudson.

The statement states that irreconcilable differences has been noted as the cause of divorce but it does not completely describe it.

The last few months in the couple’s life

Last month, DeAnna had accused Michael of domestic violence. Michael was arrested on 17 August 2024 for battery of a spouse under the California Penal Code section 243(e)(1). Later, the police released him on a bail of USD 20k. Hence, addressing this issue in the statement, he wrote:

“Respondent also significantly contributed to my personal issues as well. I am a victim in an abusive, co-dependent, and toxic relationship that culminated in the Respondent breaking into my residence and having me wrongfully arrested for DV,”

However , he denied the battery charges and added that he would like to request the court for a domestic violence restraining order against his estranged wife. Michael’s attorney told The New York Post:

“Michael is looking forward to spending quality time with his children and pursuing acting and writing poetry.”

The domestic violence incident

The recent domestic violence incident unfolded at the couple’s Malibu residence. The sheriffs department deputies of Lost Hills, Malibu got a call a short while after midnight from Michael’s residence. Lieutenant Adam Zeko revealed to Fox News Digital at that time:

“The informant stated that a female adult alleged her husband pushed her and locked her out of their residence,”

Adam added:

“The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for filing.”

Further, he elaborated:

“Based on the initial investigation, deputies determined Michael Madsen was involved in a domestic incident involving his wife. Mr. Madsen was arrested for misdemeanor Spousal Battery.”

This could likely carry a punishment of one year jail term, Adam stated. Michael’s rep had told Variety at that time:

“It was a disagreement between Michael and his wife, which we hope resolves positively for them both.”

On an earlier occasion, one month after Hudson’s death, Michael faced arrest on charges of misdemeanor trespassing.

Michael has six children from three women. His eldest daughter, Jessica was born on 24 March 1979 to his then-girlfriend, Dana Mechling. Later, in 1983, Michael met Georganne LaPiere, half-sister of singer Cher. They wed in 1984 and divorced in 1988 with no children.

Michael’s second wedding was to Jeannine Bisignano in 1991. They have two kids: sons Christian and Max. While with DeAnna, he has three sons: Luke, Kalvin and the deceased Hudson.
