She made her debut in the film 1980 “Stir crazy” where she portrayed the role of Cook’s Helper. The film itself was directed by her father Sidney Poitier. 

Pamela Poitier also worked with Richard Pryor in Stir crazy and in the year 1990’s Ghost Dad and Air America.

Now she is residing in her father’s home country, where she filmed the documentary, Islands of Life in which she raised awareness for the preservation of the Bahamas environment.

Pamela Poitier also teaches acting classes to the children in the Bahamas and shares knowledge of star berg’s acting method.

In an interview, she said that she decided to teach the students classes to share her knowledge as well as to produce talent like her father and wanted to see theatre companies on every island in the Bahamas.
