Paul Laverty won the best screenplay award at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival. After the successful collaboration with Ken, they created The Wind That Shakes The Barly in 2006 which addresses the Irish War of Independence in the early 1920s, and won the 2006 Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

His comedy genre movie Looking For Eric was released in 2006 and Route Irish, a film about mercenaries in Iraq released in 2010.
