On June 1, 2023, Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan tied the knot with Rajwa Al Saif.

The wedding was announced last year by the Jordanian royal family in a statement reading,

“The Royal Hashemite Court extends its sincere congratulations to Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah on this occasion, and wishes His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Miss Rajwa Khalid Alseif a lifetime of happiness,”

So, who is Rajwa, the woman who is now the future queen of Jordan?

Where was Saif born?

Rajwa was born in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia on April 28, 1994. She comes from a wealthy family with royal connections.

Her father Khalid al-Saif is a businessman and her mother is Azza al-Sudairi.

Rajwa is the youngest of four children. Her older siblings are Faisal, Nayef, and  Dana.

Saif’s paternal side hail from the Subai race. Her last name is spelled in numerous ways:  Al Saif, Alsaif, Alseif, and al-Saif. All of them are technically correct since they all translate the same in Arabic.

Rajwa’s mom is related to King Salman

Saif’s mother comes from the Al Sudairi family which is the family of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman. His late mother Hussa bint Ahmed Al Sudairi and late wife Sultana bint Turki Al  Sudairi both are related to Rajwa’s mom.

The Al Sudairi family is an aristocratic family in Saudi Arabia.

Where did Rajwa Al Saif study?

Rajwa Al Saif received her B.A. in architecture from Syracuse in 2017.

She made a trip to Dubai with her sustainable class during her junior year. She later told Syracuse  University News,

“What made this trip so memorable for me, was seeing the students in the studio experience Arabic culture and architecture for the first time,”

“Dubai is very intriguing, having contemporary architecture while also attempting to maintain the traditional beauty of the Arabic culture and history.”

After graduating her 2017,  she went to the  Fashion Institute of  Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles.  There she earned an  A.A., Professional Designation in Visual  Communications in 2019.

Where did Saif work after graduation?

Rajwa worked at an American firm called  P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S and then moved to her hometown where she started working at the Designlab Experience design studio.

Rajwa Al Saif got engaged to Hussein in August 2022

While it is still unclear where or when Rajwa Al Saif met the crown prince, their engagement took place in August of last year.

The grand ceremony happened at Rajwa’s family home in Riyadh.

Hussein wrote on his Instagram account at the time,

“Alhamdullillah. We pray that God grants us His blessings. Grateful to my dear Jordanian family for their heartfelt support and kind wishes.”

She started appearing with the Royal family in 2023

Rajwa did her first royal engagement with her then-fiance in October 2022, two months after their engagement.

She also appeared at Princess Iman’s wedding where she was seen happily interacting with her future-in-laws.

Queen Rania threw her a henna party just before the wedding to which the Queen said,

 “I’ll never forget how happy His Majesty and I were when Al Hussein told us he wanted to marry Rajwa. She is the perfect answer to all my prayers for him,”

“May you always be each other’s source of happiness and support.”

What title did she gain after her marriage?

After being married into the royal family, the Royal Hashemite Court announced that Rajwa will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein. When Hussein becomes  King, she will be Queen Rajwa.
