In 2018, Reece Walsh started playing rugby league, initially with the Queensland under-16 and Queensland Murri under-16 sides. He trained with the Brisbane Broncos NRL squad and played for the Tweed Heads Seagulls the next season. Also, he played for the Australian Schoolboys and Queensland under-18, scoring tries in both contests.

Reece started playing with the Norths Devils in the Queensland Cup in 2021 after agreeing to a development deal with the Brisbane Broncos. He was freed from his contract in April to play with the New Zealand Warriors, and he made his debut in round 7 of the NRL.

He was chosen to start for the Queensland Maroons at fullback in the State of Origin series, however, an injury prevented him from playing. Walsh was picked for the Queensland Maroons’ extended squad for the State of Origin Game 2 in 2022, however he did not participate. He was permitted to leave the New Zealand Warriors early to sign with the Brisbane Broncos again in 2023.

Additionally, he made his Brisbane club debut in 2023, scoring two tries in the team’s triumph over St. George Illawarra.
