Ruby Bentall is an English actress who is best known for portraying the character of Minnie in the British television costume drama series Lark Rise to Candlefor. She is the daughter of actors Janine Duvitski and Paul Bentall. Her parents settled in Petersham outside Richmond when Bentall was eight. Similarly, she has two elder half-siblings Jack Bentall and Albert Bentall from her father’s first marriage. Her biological sister Edith Bentall is the lead singer of the band ‘FOURS

Talking about her educational background, she attended the Grey Court School. After schooling, she joined Richmond upon Thames College between 2004 and 2006, graduating with a BTEC National Diploma in Performance.

In 2009, she played the role of Minnie in the British television costume drama series Lark Rise to Candlefor. In June 2010, she played the character of Alice in Alice which is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, written by Laura Wade, at the Sheffield Crucible.

Furthermore, she was seen as Anya on Remembrance Day at the Royal Court Theatre in March – April 2011. Likewise, she appeared as Victoria in the Mike Leigh-directed play Grief at the Royal National Theatre in London. In January 2014, she depicted the role of Julie in a stage adaptation of The Cement Garden in London at The Vaults, Waterloo.

On 30 March 2014, it was reported that Bentall would be seen as Ross Poldark’s cousin Verity in the new BBC One version of Poldark, aired in 2015. She also played a minor role in Holby City in July 2018.

In 2019, she played the role of Janet in the comedy-drama film The Personal History of David Copperfield which was written and directed by Armando Iannucci. In 2022, she appeared as Angelica in an American historical drama television series The Serpent Queen.
