Who is Samantha Lang?

Samantha Lang is an Australian filmmaker. She is working as a producer, director, and writer for more than 20 years. Samantha owns her production company Handmaid Media.

She is an award-winning filmmaker.  Her films were awarded at the Australian Film Institute Awards and the Sydney Film Festival and in 2015-  ‘Carlotta’ was nominated for the AACTA award where they won 3 categories.

Samantha was also elected President of the Australian Director’s Guild in 2015.

During her graduation year in directing, Samantha Lang made a short film Audacious. This short film earned her some recognition and also won her an award at Sydney Film Festival.

Later she go an opportunity to direct an episode in Twisted Tales in 1196.

During her early career, she directed television commercials, along with some photography and some short films.

Lang made her debut Film “The Well” which was selected for 30 Film Festivals, Sundance Film Festival, and Palme d’Or in the 1997 Cannes Film Festival.

Samantha Lang’s second film “The Monkey’s Mask”  was based on the 1994 verse novel of the same name by Australian poet Dorothy Porter.

She has also directed French-language film L’idole in 2002. It was screened in many film festivals. Later she directed her first VR film “Prehistoric VR”.

In the following years, she made Brown Lake(2021) and in 2022 she announced her Immersion as a new project.

Samantha also owns a production company Handmaid Media. Later in collaboration with Garth Davis, Emile Sherman, and Lain Canneing created a new production company I AM THAT in 2015.
