The online media agency, edaily had recently reported that South Korean actress, Hwang Jung-eum, 39 was spotted on a romantic date with basketball player, Kim Jong-kyu, 33, who plays for the Wonju DB Promy club of Korean basketball League (KBL). And now, a rep from Y1 Entertainment has confirmed the dating rumors.

Y1 Entertainment confirms dating rumors of Hwang Jung-eum

There were online reports from edaily that South Korean actress and singer, Hwang Jung-eum, 39 was spotted recently on a romantic outing with Wonju DB Promy basketball club’s player, Kim Jong-kyu, 33. And now, an official from Y1 Entertainment has confirmed the rumors. The rep told a reporter of the daily Korean newspaper Hankook Ilbo:

“It is true that Hwang Jung-eum and a basketball player have recently been seeing each other with mutual interest, but it is a sensitive situation. Hwang’s divorce proceedings are still ongoing.”

edaily had stated that this is a hard time for Hwang and that Kim and Hwang are getting to know each other. It is a budding romance.

The past relationships of Hwang

While filming for the music video of the band SG Wannabe, My Heart’s Treasure box in 2005, Hwang met South Korean singer of the band, Kim Jong-jun. They became friends and then romantic partners. However, it took them three years to confirm their relationship, which they did in January 2008.

Things seemed okay between them for almost another seven years. However, the Yonhap News Agency reported on 15 May 2015 that Hwang and Kim have split. Later, Hwang confirmed this in an interview she gave to Entertainment Relay on KBS2.

Soon after, Hwang started a relationship with businessman Lee Young-don who was also a professional golfer. Her agency, C-JeS Entertainment stated on 8 December 2015 that Hwang has indeed found a new boyfriend in Lee and the two are dating for four months now. The couple wed on 26 February 2016 at Hotel Shilla in Seoul, South Korea.

Their first child, a son on 15 August 2017. However, on 3 September 2020 came the sad news from her agency that she has filed for divorce from Lee. But the couple decided to give their marriage a second chance and reconciled.

Later, Hwang got pregnant with their second baby. Their second child, another son arrived on 16 March 2022. But it did not help save their marriage that had already fallen apart. This February, she revealed that they have separated.

Hwang accuses husband of infidelity

During this time, it became known that Hwang has accused her ex-husband, Lee of cheating on her with another woman who is a non-celebrity. However, this other woman sued Hwang for accusing her of cheating on her with her husband.

Along with the divorce case, Hwang has also filed a civil lawsuit in which she has demanded her ex-husband to repay back the money she had loaned to him for his business. The amount that Lee’s company owes her is to the tune of 900 million won. Thus, two cases are ongoing against Lee and one case is against Hwang from the other woman in Lee’s life.
