Who was behind the mask of Leaf Sheep?
Leaf Sheep was the first character eliminated from season 12 of The Masked Singer. The character was revealed to be John Elway, a legendary NFL quarterback. The season premiere aired on September 25, 2024.
During the episode, Leaf Sheep performed “I Like It, I Love It” by Tim McGraw. Despite his efforts, he was eliminated from the show. Though the judges had made various guesses about his identity, Ken Jeong correctly identified him as Elway. After being unmasked, he reflected on the experience positively, despite not being a strong singer.
The NFL star expressed that participating in the show was outside his comfort zone. He stated,
“I’m not sure, I was definitely not in my comfort zone. But, you know, I’m in retirement now. I had the opportunity and took advantage of it.”
He further mentioned that appearing on television has become a chance to entertain his grandchildren. They would enjoy seeing him on the screen. Elway further encouraged anyone approached to compete on the show to take the opportunity. He told Fox News Digital,
“First of all, I would say, do it. I think that it’s something that, you know, football players or athletes, we’re not really comfortable doing. I’ve got such a great respect for entertainers and singers and how good they are at what they do, You’re going to be nervous going in but put yourself out there and do something that gets you out of your comfort zone. And when you’re done with it, it’s a great feeling of accomplishment knowing that I wasn’t great at it, but I went ahead and put myself out there. That’s what I would tell them.”
To find out who will be unveiled as the next masked celebrity on The Masked Singer, be sure to watch the new episodes airing Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox. After the episodes air, you can also stream them on Hulu the following day.
