Ted Vernon is an American TV personality who is a former boxer and actor. He works for disabled people and has a huge collection of vintage cars. He is known and admired for his show South Beach Classics. But not many people are aware of his violent and abusive side. Here is a look at his other side.

Ted Vernon and his relationship history

Ted Vernon was born into a wealthy family. His father was a property developer and initially Ted used to work for him as his property manager. Ted’s father was very dominating and ruthless and Ted had a troubled childhood. He grew up with a short temper and sharp tongue. His parents’ divorce also had an impact on him.

Ted entered into boxing and won several matches. He started car business and it soon flourished. He acquired the names of Wolfman and Hammerhead. Around this time, he met his first wife who was an Austrian hairdresser named Monika Sula. He liked her and the two started dating. In October 1987, their first child, son Mark was born. They wed six months later and daughter Alexandra arrived in 1990.

Ted started dating another woman and in 1994, Monika and Ted divorced. Ted won custody of his kids. He took to acting and met Robin Ziel in 1998. She was 20 and he 49. Ted had a domineering personality and soon Robin was in a relationship with him. In early 2000, they flew to Thailand for an intimate Buddhist wedding. He put an ad in Herald that read:

“Finally got her! The king has got his queen! I am proud to announce the greatest, most beautiful girl in the world is marrying me!”

In November 2004, son Ted Vernon Jr. was born. But Ted was violent and abusive with Robin. And after 18 years of tolerating domestic violence, Robin sought divorce. In 2022, Ted got engaged to Cindy Darrell and the two wed on 25 June 2023.

Ted and domestic violence against Robin Ziel and children

Ted had a volatile nature. He tortured his second wife, Robin. He used to kick and beat her and left her with swollen face and bleeding lips on multiple occasions. Ted wanted to control her and would not allow her to leave the house. He would taunt her saying that he is going to go to another woman.

Ted was insensitive towards Robin and would not take her for medical treatment after he smashed her face. Instead he had said on one occasion:

“You better get up, bitch,”
“before I run you over.”

But since they shared the show in common, Robin did not press any charges against Ted. Moreover, Ted would always get some employee to talk fake about Robin or use the employee as an eye witness to refute Robin’s statements against him.

Daughter Alexandra was also a victim of Ted’s fury. She and her brother suffered at their father’s hands along with their stepmom. Alexandra stated:

“He was a shitty husband and a shitty father,”
“We should not have been allowed to be around him.”

Alexandra reached out to her mother Monika and reconnected with her. Mother Monika said that she was also abused by Ted and kept this under wraps to protect her kids. Monika died in 2014 due to liver cancer. When in her teens, Alexandra ran away from home, relocated, and changed her name to remain away and safe from her father.

Alexandra shared in 2017:

“I watched him abuse my whole family and get away with it, and get away with it really well, but people genuinely think he’s this really nice guy,”
“When I found out that he had a television show, I was actually really appalled.”

His other two children also faced humiliation and violence at his hands but all suffered in silence because Ted managed to get away every time with his threats and false witnesses. He also accused Robin of attempts to poison her.

Bad behavior towards employees

Ted used to force employees to give false evidence in court against his wife Robin. Former employee, Felipe Lizano, had claimed that he overheard Robin talking to a doctor boyfriend about how she wanted to kill Ted. She would spike his coffee with powdered pills. But on cross-examination, Felipe broke down and confessed that Ted had told him to make that false allegations with a promise of $20,000.

Moreover, Ted would scold his employees if their cigarette smoke hit his face accidentally. Once during filming for his show, he scolded and abused a customer who parked the car at the wrong spot.

A former employee, Kutay Satiroglu, in 2012, had accused that Ted had broken his nose when they were involved in a business dispute.
