Her cancer returned in 2016, during the production of “Yasuragi no Sato.” Despite her deteriorating condition, she continued to shoot the drama until May 7, 2017. The next day, she was brought to the hospital with pneumonia. However, she was unable to fully recover and died on June 13, 2017.

The following year, she participated in the coverage of the Isewan Typhoon Disaster. In 1960, Yōko was reassigned to the NHK Tokyo Broadcasting Station, where she moderated the weekly television show “Good Morning Everyone.” She was in charge of three steady weekly shows for the next two years.

She quit NHK in 1962 for an advertising agency. Nogiwa opted to host the 15-minute live show “Women’s Senka” on TBS because she was concerned about a shortage of clients and if she would get compensated. She subsequently dedicated herself to her dream of becoming an actor.

Moreover, the lovely actress attended school in Paris from February 1966 to March 1967. She was the “first person in Japan to wear a miniskirt.” The actress was cast in the 1968 drama “Key Hunter,” which ran for five years with a 30% audience rating. She was also responsible for writing the theme song for the show.

Yōko was successful in the 1992 television drama “Zutto Anata ga Sukidatta,” where she played the mother-in-law. Yōko appeared in TBS dramas such as “Double Kitchen,” “Dare ni mo Ienai,” “Sweet Home,” and “Chonana no Yome” on a regular basis.

Furthermore, she spoke out against nuclear power plants in March 2011 and converted to LED lights in her home to save energy. Nokia was one among the celebrities that came out against the Specially Designated Secrets Act’s enactment in 2013.
