A$AP Rocky, soon-to-be father was detained at Los Angeles international airport on Wednesday, April 20.

The 33-year-old rapper was returning from vacation in Barbados with his pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna, when he was arrested by the Los Angeles police. The duo is expecting a child this spring.

He was detained for assault with a deadly weapon. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the rapper, born Rakim Mayers took into custody in connection to a November shooting. The statement reads,

“Early this morning, LAPD officers arrested Mayers for assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) at the Los Angeles International Airport. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.”

This is not the first legal issue the rapper has faced, earlier, he involves in a high-profile legal battle in 2019. During the time, the police arrested the rapper for assault in a street fight in Stockholm, Sweden.

What happened to A$AP Rocky?

On November 6, 2021, the alleged shooting incident took place in the Hollywood area near Vista Del Mar and Selma Avenue around 10:20 p.m. In the incident, an argument between two acquaintances occurred and the dispute escalated which led to the firing of a handgun that grazed the victim’s left hand.

Now, the victim claimed that Mayers, who was walking with two others, approached him with a handgun on the street. As per the victim, Mayers shot at him three to four times and one of the bullets skimmed his left hand.

He was convicted into jail at 12:42 p.m however, bail was set at $550,000 and he was released less than three hours later after posting bond.

Nevertheless, he has a court date set for upcoming August 17.
