Plaza’s on-stage temper during the White Lotus acceptance speech had social media users speculate on what possibly went wrong with her.

Though the actress, 38, has publicly yet to address what really happened on the stage, someone very close to her defended her controversial behavior.

Aubrey’s White Lotus co-star Jon Gries who played Greg, Tanya McQuiod‘s bad husband on the HBO hit, cleared doubts on what really happened that night.

Gries said that Aubrey was “being blocked by about 15 people,” so he told her to “look to the front.”

Then the Real Genius actor said, referring to the actress’s underboob showing out of her revealing Michael Kors dress, “You might want to fix that first,”

The 65-year-old actor revealed that Plaza said ”Jesus Christ” after he said that because she was just being funny.

Jon explained,

“I think what she was intimating is why would that be a problem if my nipple is showing,”
“That’s her humor — she has that dry, deadpan wit; that’s her biting wit.”

Plaza thanked Gries for saving her from a wardrobe malfunction

He also slammed the reports that Plaza was mad at not getting a chance to speak at the podium following their big win. Gries also made it very clear that the whole cast knew that co-star F. Murray would address the crowd on their behalf.

Speaking of the 83-year-old Oscar-winning actor, Jon said,

“We wanted him to speak; we all wanted him to. He’s F. Murray Abraham! He’s a frigging legend,”

Jon added that he even texted Plaza the next morning after the awkward evening, writing, “You weren’t really upset?”

To which, the actress replied, “No! Not at all!”

Plaza joked about Gries saving her from suffering a wardrobe malfunction, he said.

The Martin alum also rubbished rumors of any conflict and said that the comedian had a blast partying with the rest of the cast at Chateau Marmont partying till late after the show.
