Before signing with Columbia Records in the 1990s, she had been playing music since she was a child. Under These Rocks and Stones, her debut studio album was released in Canada in 1996 and was a financial success before being released in the United States the following year to critical acclaim.

With Columbia, Kreviazuk recorded two additional studio albums, Colour Moving and Still (1999) and What If It All Means Something (2002), both of which were moderately successful commercially. Her fourth album, Ghost Stories (2006), was released by Sony BMG and debuted at number two on the Canadian Albums Chart.

Chantal Kreviazuk has appeared in various Canadian independent and short films since 2003, co-writing and composing songs for other artists as well as film soundtracks. Plain Jane, her fifth album, was released in 2009 by MapleMusic Recordings, a Canadian independent label.

Hard Sail and Get To You, her most recent albums, were released through Warner Music Canada in 2016 and 2020, respectively. In 2019, she also published Christmas Is A Way Of Life, My Dear, a Christmas album.

Chantal Kreviazuk made her big-screen debut in 2001, co-starring opposite Sandrine Holt and Mia Kirshner in David Weaver’s independent feature Century Hotel. She also collaborated with Maida on the film’s theme song, “Can’t Make it Good.” Pretty Broken, is a short film about a lady suffering from mental illness, featuring Kreviazuk in 2007. Kreviazuk was also a co-producer of the film.
